Albuquerque Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
In honor of Black History Month, join AMM's Junior Friends for a potluck meal and film viewing of Harriet, the recently released Academy Award nominated film about the life of Harriet Tubman. Gather for cooking from 3-4 and movie at 4 p.m. Note, the event will take place in the lower level, so is not accessible, unfortunately. Presented by the Children's Program.
AMM will serve breakfast at Hopeworks before Meeting on Sunday, February 23. Hopeworks provides many services to our unhoused neighbors. Then, at rise of Meeting, join us for a viewing of the Dawnland, a film that everyone should see. Removal of Native children isn’t just something that happened far away and long ago, but to Wabanaki communities in Maine in the late 20th century. Watch and be outraged, heartbroken, and hopeful as the Wabanaki labor to protect and heal their most precious and vulnerable members, and some of their non-Native neighbors struggle with the challenge of moving from the role of occupiers to neighbors.
Presented by Peace & Social Concerns & the Whiteness Study Group
Join us at Rise of Meeting (approximately 12:15 p.m.) on Sunday, March 8, for an informational talk by Billy Jivetti on his recent trip to Kenya. Light refreshments will be provided. End by 2:30 p.m.
RSVP if you desire child care in order to participate. Please let us know by March 1st.
