Friends arrive promptly to gather themselves into the silence. Yet the object of our style of worship is not silence, but the quiet waiting for an opening to the divine within ourselves.
As we settle into worship, the quiet becomes vital and alive. Vocal messages come out of this animated stillness to enrich the group worship.
Friends distinguish vocal ministry (that which comes from the spirit) from commentary prompted by a personal agenda.
A time for reflection between messages allows us to contemplate the spiritual meaning and explore the relation of what is spoken to our own circumstances.

When we act on the our Quaker testimonies (of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship) through work on a meeting committee or in the world, when we offer support to another through a difficult time in life, or give voice to the divine at Meeting for Worship, we engage in Quaker ministry.
